Love, Joy, Peace...


Ballard Blast is a community-wide event that is organized/facilitated by Pitman Church of the Nazarene. Ballard Blast is intended to give opportunity for community members to come together for fun summer evenings, and to provide space and opportunities for local businesses, non-profits, and Borough departments to engage with people. Some of the evenings have special themes, but every evening will have music and/or speakers, fun activities & games, and food. 


Below are listed the scheduled themes of each week. Any question marks are waiting on date verification from the groups that will be involved.


May 29th – Art & Music Night (Pitman schools art and music, crafts led by National Art Honor Society, local art businesses invited to take part including Corner Press, Hammer & Stain, Paint Ground, and Fahrenheit)

 

June 5th – DoItBig Productions (homeschool group theater, short skits & advertising for their summer camp later in the summer)

 

June 12th – Stories in the Park (including Pitman Writers Guild and Words Matter Book Store. Story time stations throughout the evening with classic children's stories. Book Swap: bring a book (or more) to donate and swap it for a different book. All left over books will be donated to the library's book sale. Table with local authors signing and selling their books)

 

June 19th – Touch a Truck 1 (vehicles from public works, fire department, and police department)

 

June 26th – Ballard Blast Fun Night, Pitman Wrestling Team   Music, Games & Activities, and Food. The Pitman Wrestling Team will have some mats for kids to try out the sport of wrestling.

 

July 3rd – Independence Day Celebration

 

July 10th – Karaoke Night with Patti Forte from Fahrenheit 

 

July 17th – [This event was canceled for impending storms. Planned activities moved to other Wednesdays] Junior Firefighters Olympics (Junior Firefighters from Pitman and nearby towns competing against one another in themed contests, fire safety demonstrations)

 

July 24th – Christmas Eve in July (Christmas Carols, Christmas lights, Christmas treats. Snow may be a long way off, but we hope to get a mid-year dose of the Christmas season! Some local businesses will have Christmas-themed products and deals)

 

July 31st – Dog Days of Summer  Featuring dog-themed businesses & activities

 

August 7th –  Pitman Rotary Club Service Night Music, Games & Activities, and Food

 

August 14th – Sustainable Pitman & Bike Safety Night w/ Pitman Police. Live music from the band SuperLemonade!

 

August 21st – Touch a Truck, Junior Firefighter Olympics, & Teacher Recognition Night (vehicles from public works, fire department, and police department for children to explore. Also, obstacle course and other fire safety activities led by junior firefighters from Pitman and other nearby towns. Any teachers who attend on this evening will be able to choose a gift from local businesses!)
